Janis Middleton

EVP, Executive Director of Inclusion Strategy

In this era, corporations have more responsibility than ever to change the systems that have perpetuated racial inequity, and Janis has embraced this as her personal mission as Guided by Good’s EVP, Executive Director of Inclusion Strategy. Janis has years of experience in the content and media space and has led various clients, such as The Home Depot, Buffalo Wild Wings, SunTrust (now Truist), Hanes, and many others to success. Her background has made her extremely knowledgeable in developing and implementing people-focused strategies, which ultimately led to her current role.
As an Atlanta native and a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, Janis has always had a passion for building and cultivating environments that provide equal opportunities for all people to thrive. She understood marginalized audiences were consistently underrepresented with less access to tools for success. It was with this experience that she built the portfolio’s Inclusion practice.
She has been instrumental in building the agency’s internal inclusion strategy. Before 22Squared’s portfolio expansion, Janis created its Diversity and Inclusion roadmap, officer structure, and inclusion practice strategy, which resulted in Guided by Good financially investing in Diversity and Inclusion with full-time roles, a budget, and resources.
Partnering with the agency’s senior and executive leaders, she’s challenged many processes, which resulted in developing creative review processes with Diversity and Inclusion involvement from the start. Her counsel with clients large and small has led to their multicultural practice, resulting in major film studio wins with Amazon, Paramount, Varo, pro-bono work with LA Pride, Morris Brown College, and continuing work with the NAACP Atlanta Chapter.
Not only does she have tremendous influence inside the walls of Guided by Good, but she’s also paving the way for her community by serving on the Board of Directors for Breakthrough Atlanta and Advertising for Change.
