Jamie Smarr

Chief Executive Officer, New York City Housing Partnership

Jamie is a housing and economic development professional and lifelong education advocate. He joined the Housing Partnership in 2022, where he is responsible for the organization’s strategic growth and financial well-being. 

Prior to joining the Housing Partnership, Jamie was Senior Vice President at The NHP Foundation, and not-for-profit affordable housing developer, where he was responsible for joint venture development with faith-based organizations nationally. He was also previously Executive Director of the New York City Educational Construction Fund and served as advisor to four different Schools Chancellors of New York City between 2000-2013, also directly involved in the creation of New York City’s first public charter school in 2000.

Jamie began his career as director of tax and zoning incentives for New York City in 1997. A native of Gastonia, NC, he earned his  B.A. from Duke and masters degrees from Columbia and Harvard University. Jamie is also a Woodrow Wilson Public Policy and International Affairs Fellow, having completed the fellowship at Princeton University.
